Changes in gene expression between resting HUVEC and HUVEC activated by IL-1 fl for 18 hrs.

A bright red signal indicates a highly induced cDNA while a bright green signal represents a suppressed cDNA upon cell activation. A bright yellow signal indicates a cDNA whose expression does not change significantly between resting and activated states. Signals with dim intensity indicate no significant expression in either resting or activated HUVEC. Three genes with significantly increased expression upon activation were indicated: EST-1 (arrowhead), ICAM-1 (short arrow) and A20 (long arrow).
